Final Day of 2008

Wow a year has passed, and it just flew pass me.

In the beginning of the year is mainly to patch up and pickup the pieces of my life, due to the turbulent 2007 and left a drastic aftermath.

Then is the debating stuff. Not as packed as last year, but exciting nonetheless. MMU broke at our inaugural AUDC participation, broke at Australs (I wish I could be there, but I can't cause this year is about studies for me), won NHSD, and I decided to witness WUPID as an observer this time (a first in international tournament) and partied my ass off. Really, I just need a moment to relax just this once this year... I managed to capture some of the moments in my camera too.

People I know come and left, not just in debating society but also in the campus grounds. New people to get to know, old folks (I meant the people i know longer, not thier age) I tried to rekindle, including my high school friends that I met in various unexpected occasions.

And who cannot forget the Beiijing Olympics this year? Malaysia bagged a medal, China sweeps, Micheal Phelps screams as he wins 8 gold medals, controversies arised from start till the end.

Happy New Year 2009!

P.S: this is the first time I blog via email. I know, it took me awhile to attempt some new forms of technology. =P

Christmas 2008

This year's Christmas was a slightly mellow one. However, surprises are still in store in my family.

*Presents are fewer this year. "Recession" is the key word. I don't blame anyone who didn't bring any presents. As I don't really ask for anything this year.

*My uncle just randomly buys gifts for everyone and he didn't label them. So it's really up to the recipient's choice to choose their present from him. Okay this is the first time I have to think long and hard to figure out what it is.

*My cousin-in-law's family is here to join in the fun. So Christmas this year is slightly more merrier this year.

*May I add I'm jealous that some of my friends are celebrating an actual white Christmas abroad?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Ten Commandments of Facebook

I'm sure you are users of the infamous Facebook, or at least heard of it. It's a really cool website to connect and contact friends and share great moments of your life. At times there are some things that people should be aware about. Here are some of them, and I have created some random commandments for everyone to preferably observe.

#1: Thou shalt upload a profile picture
It is darn useful for people to at least know you before adding them. Often I don't remember names, or know them by their full names. How would I know whether I know you if I don't know how you look? So please! Add a picture, a simple picture would do.

#2: Thou shalt fill in thy profile information
The more stuff you cram in, the better. Not for being a Nosy Parker, but for getting to know you a bit better. After all, this is your page and your personal space online. Moreover, you can set your privacy settings for only your friends know more about you, whereas random strangers don't.

#3: Thou shalt not poke thy friends too often
Once or twice is cute, too much just screams desperate craving for attention.

#4: Thou shalt not spam invites to applications
Another annoying trait. DON'T send those darn application invites to everyone you know! Cancel it or only send to the ones who might find that application interesting.

#5: Thou shalt know the different messaging methods available
Chatting options are there for other users online (works like IMs) for quick chatting, Wall posting is for more causal messaging (everyone in your friends list see that!). Private messaging is for things that are best left between you and the particular friend.

#6: Thou shalt not announce the world thy dirty laundry
As stated, everyone will see that. Watch what you type on your status bar.

#7: Thou shalt not create a love shrine
Yes, we know you love him/her so much, but please tone down the flirting on the wall, poking, upload tons of couple pictures (a few is fine) and whatever things couples do to each other. Observe rule #3, #5 and #6.

#8: Thou shalt confirm that they are really thy friends
Of course you can't add every Tom, Dick and Harry who requested you. Ask by sending messages. If you're adding a friend. It would be nice to add a personal message to remind him/her where/when you met.

#9: Thou shalt not be a creepy stalker
You can browse about your friends pages of various degrees of closeness till the cows come home. but please don't ever, ever make yourself known that you're stalking him/her by commenting creepy messages on their wall or anything like that. Commenting about their relationsthip status is highly discouraged.

#10: Thou shalt observe basic ettiquette
A virtual space is the same as in real life social circle. So yay for being polite in anything you type in Facebook. Everything you do or say does reflect back to you.

Yoga Banned?

Shocked? Me too.

Of al things that are posing threats to the society at large, our government body determines to ban this ancient, meditating, healthy exercise for Muslims.

This is absurd. Why not ban drugs that are dangerous and potentially life-threatening? Now THAT'S something that's useful.

Whatever, Governing body. You always makes surprising decisions that makes the whole world to laugh about.

Yes, I also vividly remember the whole street name changing fiasco suggested by the city council.

Of Halloweens and Beers

It's late of October and two things are happening:

Halloween: Nothing fancy going on but I just happened to watch a whole lot of TV shows are doing their Halloween special. Some are downright scary, but others are taking the lighter tone of the festival.

Oktoberfest: If there's a festival that means a lot of drinking, I'm up for that.

Didn't expect 2008 flew by that fast, somehow I don't seem to be ready for 2009. Heh.

Love that is not meant to be

I know I shouldn't indulge more TV shows, but I came across this show titled "Pushing Daisies." A short summary of what this is about.

Main character: A dude that can resurrect the dead with a single touch. Yeah something like Midas, but doesn't turn things into gold though. But there's a catch: If the dead is remained alive for a minute, another living being dies in its place (to balance things out). Also, if he touch the revived being twice, it will be dead forever.
Setting: A quirky looking town where he works as a pie maker, serving pies in a 50s diner.
Story: Solving crimes with his partner who is a private investigator and his intelligent girlfriend, filled with weird victims, suspects and situations. Romances: He saved his girlfriend from the dead, and according to the rules of his power, he can't touch her, or she'll be dead forever. That means no hugging, kissing and not even holding her hand!

Sad huh? Loving someone that you can even touch, fearing that you will lose her forever.

Funny this great show wasn't very popular with the audience in the US. Might be too quirky for their taste.

Tying the Knot

I attended my cousins wedding yesterday, and boy it was a ritual filled event, with all the subtle gestures and the games some of the guest played on the groom in order to welcome the bride. As it is a traditional Chinese wedding, there is also a tea ceremony to the older generation.

After all the rituals are done , it's time to get ready to attend the banquet dinner. THe dinner is fine and all. But the highlight of the night for me is -- I met my high school CLASSMATE on my way back! I can't believe my eyes! But I did say hi to him.

When I asked who is he related to, he said he's the groom's distant relative. (I assume he's the groom's second cousin or something). So what are we then? He shrugged his shoulders. I too have no idea what kind of relation we have until I had to figure it out myself. (2nd cousin in law? Depends how "distant" relative to my cousin in law.)

The world is really small, you know. And I started to believe the theory of everyone is 6 degrees separated is true.

Scondhand Serenade - Fall For You

The best thing about tonight's that we're not fighting
Could it be that we have been this way before
I know you don't think that I am trying
I know you're wearing thin down to the core

But hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I wont live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
You're impossible to find

This is not what I intended
I always swore to you I'd never fall apart
You always thought that I was stronger
I may of failed
But I have loved you from the start
Oh

But hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I wont live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
It's impossible

So breathe in so deep
Breathe me in
I'm yours to keep
And hold onto your words
Cause talk is cheap
And remember me tonight
When your asleep

Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I wont live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
Tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I wont live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
You're impossible to find

10th Kingdom Opening

Watched this show twice already.. And I still love it.

Distractions... Bad

Wow didn't update my blog lately with a LOT of my tv shows coming back....Bad news for my important things like assignments!

Just a little rundown of shows I'm watching:

*America's Next Top Model, Cycle 11 - OMG, they managed to beat their cheesiness in each cycle! I also noticed Tyra Banks has becoming an major attention-seeking-whore than she have ever had.

*Survivor: Gabon, Season 17 - They still doing this show? Anyways, old formula new twists, dumber contestant. Now I'll cut them some slack if they start to make silly decisions when it's day 16 or so due to lack of food, good sleep etc. But in day 3? Damn.

*Ugly Betty, Season 3 - Some real character changes in this season. Can't wait how well they adapt to their new lives.

*Desperate Housewives, Season 5 - Started the show with a 5 year jump! Wow so much has happened and it resets the whole plot. This show has better getting better and better.

*Heroes, Season 3 - Still epic as ever, though I haven't really warmed up to this season yet. I just have to wait and see

Embrace - Gravity

Super emotional song that I love lots!

Honey, It's been a long time coming
And I can't stop now
Such a long time running
And I can't stop now
Do you hear my heart beating
Can you hear that sound
Cause I can't help thinking
And I don't look down

And then I looked up at the sun and I could see
Oh the way that gravity turns for you and me
And then I looked up at the sky and saw the sun
And the way that gravity pulls on everyone, on everyone

Baby, It's been a long time waiting
Such a long, long time
And I can't stop smiling
No I can't stop now
And do you hear my heart beating
Ah can you hear that sound
Cause I can't help crying
And I won't look down

And then I looked up at the sun and I could see
Oh the way that gravity turns on you and me
And then I looked up at the sun and saw the sky
And the way that gravity pulls on you and I, on you and I

Can you hear my heart beating
Can you hear that sound
Cause I can't help crying
And I won't look down

Compulsive Actions, Crazy Things

I admit.... If I have the time, I'll do the most craziest things on earth. To the point of obsession. Such as:

1. Take a piece of paper and start writing, just write ANYTHING. Doesn't really have to make sense, or having a story. Just words and words form into sentences.

2. Alternatively, Draw anything... and it makes a whole composition of drawings fit together as art.

3. Playing the same songs on repeat.

4. Go out and walk(drive) .... to places new and yet familiar. And comeback without even caring weather you get/found/discover something.

5. Camwhoring. (NOt me... but i know a lot of people do. A LOT of people.)

How about you? Do you some random things to spruce things up in your life?

Coldplay - The Hardest Part

Really great music that is deserved to be shared.

And the hardest part
Was letting go, not taking part
Was the hardest part

And the strangest thing
Was waiting for that bell to ring
It was the strangest start

I could feel it go down
Bittersweet, I could taste in my mouth
Silver lining the cloud
Oh and I
I wish that I could work it out

And the hardest part
Was letting go, not taking part
You really broke my heart

And I tried to sing
But I couldn’t think of anything
And that was the hardest part

I could feel it go down
You left the sweetest taste in my mouth
You're a silver lining the clouds
Oh and I
Oh and I
I wonder what it’s all about
I wonder what it’s all about

Everything I know is wrong
Everything I do, it's just comes undone
And everything is torn apart

Oh and it’s the hardest part
That’s the hardest part
Yeah that’s the hardest part
That’s the hardest part

LEE CHONG WEI IS GETTING A MEDAL FOR MALAYSIA!!!

Sorry... just HAVE to caps the title... :)

Congratulations to Lee Chong Wei! You made Malaysia proud. WHOOHOO!!!

It has been 12 years Malaysia didn't have a single medal in the Olympics. This year there will be a change. I was literally rejoicing when this dude won the semi-finals in the men's single badminton event.

Look at him... so exhausted from the semi-finals against the Korean shuttler.

We'll see the finals unfold on Sunday when he will compete against Lin Dan from China. Good luck to him.

For trivia lovers, Malaysia only won a silver and 2 bronzes in 1992 and 1996 Olympics. All of them in badminton. Yea, that's it.

On the other note, there is so much controversies going on during the course of the Olympics. One of them if the age of the gymnasts from China (seriously, 16? Those girls look like they are 13 for goodness sake) and also the failure of dope tests that seem to happen every single time.

And oh, Yahoo! Sports, STOP trying to put USA on the top of the medal tally just because they got the most medals. It's pretty annoying. Place them when they actually get the most GOLD medals (which they most likely to), like the other sites do. Gah!

Beijing Olympics... Whooo!

It's here, Olympics 2008 is happening in Beijing right now and the opening ceremony is AMAZING!!! I would like to show some pictures if I have them...

The whole event is just fantastic.... Especially the fireworks display, pretty blinding your eyes even if you watch it on TV (I wonder how people cope with all the glare in the stadium)

AND... not forget the whole sporting event that are happening right now...

Conspracies...

Ever wonder what happens behind closed doors?
What is going on behind the scenes?
What is there anything to hide
That scares the rest of the world?

We wonder why someone left without a trace,
Somewhere is considered "cursed",
Incidents that are left unexplained,
Decisions suddenly made,
In an arbitrary pattern.

We continue to wonder,
As we are curious beings,
We try to quench our thirst of curiosity,
By attempting to explain the unexplained
and debate differing opinions,
about an occurrence that no one absolutely understands

I guess conspiracy theorists
take pleasure from mysteries and suspicions.

When Will I Reach 1 Million?

You know me, I'm a music freak. I listen to tons of songs, from pop, rock, alternatives, indies, dance, r&b... So I wonder when I would be reaching 1 million songs I have listened. So I found out this site to calculate it:

http://syntax.straylight.cz/lastfm/million/index.php
Hint: Sorry, you need a last.fm account to find out.

The results are as follows:
With average 38 tracks a day, myintermail will reach 1,000,000 tracks on 28th of June 2079.
He will be 92 years old

*Gasp* 92! I believe I have listened over 1 million songs in my live, it just didn't count in the site i guess (I don't have the account back then =D). Currently I have 21,000+ songs recorded -- That's a feat for 2 short years. Still I have a long way to go.

Adele - Hometown Glory

Really breathtaking... simply wonderful

I've been walking in the same way as I did
Missing out the cracks in the pavement
And tutting my heel and strutting my feet
"Is there anything I can do for you dear? Is there anyone I can call?"
"No and thank you, please Madam. I ain't lost, just wandering"

Round my hometown
Memories are fresh
Round my hometown
Ooh the people I've met
Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of this world
Are the wonders of my world

I like it in the city when the air is so thick and opaque
I love to see everybody in short skirts, shorts and shades
I like it in the city when two worlds collide
You get the people and the government
Everybody taking different sides

Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit
Shows that we are united
Shows that we ain't gonna take it
Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit
Shows that we are united

Round my hometown
Memories are fresh
Round my hometown
Ooh the people I've met

Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of my world
Are the wonders of this world
Are the wonders of my world

3 Years of Blogging!

Wow time flies... Didn't really realize things go by just like that, and as people, other things we have in life also aged and changed: even blogs. Ha. =)

I started to blog since I started University. Before that I never tried blogging. I guess I don't really have anything to say, or just plain too inconvenient (internet access was not that accessible to me, kay). Since then I started my first one in friendster, I started blogging about random things... That is where "What is Life?" is born.

My blog has gone through major incarnations, from different layouts to a different host. From just poetry and life to music videos, youtube stuff, links to my other things and all that jazz.

Hopefully people still reads this blog and I hope I'll update this as often as possible. Ciao!

It's not fair!

You must have been through what I experienced.
He gets the apple while I got the seeds,
I had to follow while she leads,
So I yelled "It's not fair!"

They got chosen just because they are liked,
He gets the looks and and you got none,
She has the smarts, charm and all the fun,
Tell me is life fair to you?

We hear screams of unfairness in this world today,
We also see injustice to an innocent when the other is the culprit,
We felt the blame, rejection and humiliation,
As the others have everything fall on their laps!

Where is the so-called equality, you say?
That is claimed to be kept in spirit?
Maybe justice can only be seen from a higher position,
While we helplessly witness victims fall into their traps!

OneRepublic - Stop and Stare

Really awesome song.... enjoy!

This town is colder now, I think it's sick of us
It's time to make our move, I'm shaking off the rust
I've got my heart set on anywhere but here
I'm staring down myself, counting up the years
Steady hands, just take the wheel...
And every glance is killing me
Time to make one last appeal... for the life I lead

Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're here not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, can you see what I see

They're trying to come back, all my senses push
Untie the weight bags, I never thought I could...
Steady feet, don't fail me now
Gonna run till you can't walk
Something pulls my focus out
And I'm standing down...

Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're here not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
But fair ain't what you really need
Oh, you don't need

What you need, what you need...

Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
Yeah I know that everyone gets scared
But I've become what I can't be
Oh, do you see what I see...

Music of Today

Seriously, we REALLY need to evaluate our daily dose of popular music that has been flooding the airwaves. Music that sells now are not relied on their good sense of musicality or lyrics, instead it is the other way round: It sells 'cause it DOESN'T make sense.

Not that this is something new or anything, it has been around for years already (Blame MTV >_<). Like it or loathe it, music that sells are about sex, cheesiness, or just plain nonsense. Very few of the more meaningful songs do well in the charts, or rarely heard by the public.

I'm not going to point out any names (you can kinda guess who they are), but these people are just the bad apples that tainted the music industry so badly until it is labeled as "trashy" and "meaningless". Worse, some of them spread negative connotations and values that are purely superficial (it's all about the booty!), materialistic (being rich is the only way to happiness) and so on.

And heck, sometimes I can't help myself listening to them sometimes... :P. Anyway, no matter what genre of music you listen to, keep enjoying!

Horoscopes and other zany beliefs

I actually horoscopes actually true. I mean, what explains that there are people with different personalities, talents and temperaments? If that means dividing people into 12 different personalities, I'm willing to think there is some certain truth to it.

No i don't mean the ones you can check daily in your newspaper, it is the one that you can analyze your personalities, make a birth chart and see where the planets "fall" under which sign.

AND it is also interesting to actually find out that people, especially my friends actually act according to the particular sign's stereotype and most of my friends would say "Gosh it is true!"

Not only that I also kinda "studied" Chinese horoscopes, tarot and numerology. Also I tried my best to learn handwriting analysis.

Okay, I know. I am quirky and I am very interested in these things.... This is part of who I am, kay. =)

Finish Whatever You Have Started

Whoever said this is right
"Either you do it right,
Or don't do it at all."

Whoever said this is wise
"Either you do it until it's prefect,
Or stop doing it altogether."

Whoever said this is a genius
"Either you finish what you've done
Or don't bother start doing it."

Once you make your mark,
You better make it great,
else risk disappointment, regret and humiliation,
If your work is half-baked, half done.

Once you laid the foundation,
perfection is your goal,
success is your aim
and completion is your objective.

Night of Chocolate Fondue

My friends had organized some lovely night to showcase their work to their peers and lecturers. To top it off they are serving something which is one of their favorite, which is CHOCOLATE! Lots of chocolate served with multiple tidbits such as marshmallows, fruits and crackers.

I just love the chocolate fountain. The last time I saw one is in a mall in Thailand.

I really enjoyed the night. Thanks a lot guys!

P.S: I did drank a full cup of molten chocolate. And too much of a good thing is never really good at all.

Stars - Your Ex-Lover is Dead

God that was strange to see you again
Introduced by a friend of a friend
Smiled and said 'yes I think we've met before'
In that instant it started to pour,
Captured a taxi despite all the rain
We drove in silence across Pont Champlain
And all of the time you thought I was sad
I was trying to remember your name...

This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin
Tried to reach deep but you couldn't get in
Now you're outside me
You see all the beauty
Repent all your sin

It's nothing but time and a face that you lose
I chose to feel it and you couldn't choose
I'll write you a postcard
I'll send you the news
From a house down the road from real love...

Live through this, and you won't look back...
Live through this, and you won't look back...
Live through this, and you won't look back...

There's one thing I want to say, so I'll be brave
You were what I wanted
I gave what I gave
I'm not sorry I met you

Cinco de Mayo

Hoy es cinco de Mayo del dos mil ocho. (Today is 5th of May 2008).

This is what I have to say the first thing I attended my Spanish class: The date of that particular day. by the way, the 5th of May is a National celebration for Mexicans. =D

Funny thing is the pronunciation of the Spanish letters. Here's what weird about it.
*H is ALWAYS silent
*J is pronounced as a Y
*LL is pronounced as J
*Y is pronounced as J as well.

But the most frustrating part of all is not pronouncing the word in Spanish. It's the grammar part is the headache. All the masculine/feminine nouns, 5 different tenses for present tense alone! argh... X( Why don't they just simplify things!

Come to think of it, why should one study Spanish in the first place?

Because learning a different language is pretty cool. Period.

Labour Day

It was labour day yesterday, the day to dedicate the ones who work hard and long to contribute to the economy. We will not enjoy anything what we have without one of the large group of people who are behind this economic force.

Well, I kinda work hard and long... in a sense actually (and desperately need a break). However, my work and all the stuff i do cannot be compared to the people who served the community, and to earn a living for their family. This day allows the appreciation of the workers, and allows them to spend a wee bit more time to their families or to themselves.

It actually happened yesterday. I was out to KL for a little trip of shopping for essentials, and every mall I went to was packed. It was their "family day" indeed.

I hope you did have some fun despite a lot of work at hand too! =D

Yellowcard- Roungh Landing, Holly

Best. Music. Video. Ever.

Left the ground in black and white
And when the plane went down
The colours all around
I know by now, the margin's slight
And still I can't get out
She's all I think about
Can’t let her go
It's who you know

(Chorus)
We came down to watch the world walk by
And all she found was trouble in my eyes
From the sky she pulled me down tonight
Let her go, let her go

She moves fast, takes control
And like a heart attack I know I can't turn back
And time just passed, nights moved slow
And she was all I had
I thought I’d never last
Can’t let her go
It's who you know

(Chorus)
We came down to watch the world walk by
And all she found was trouble in my eyes
From the sky she pulled me down tonight
Let her go

Let her go

We came down to watch the world walk by
And all she found was trouble in my eyes
From the sky she pulled me down tonight

She calls out the farther that I fly
I love that sound so give me one more line
From the sky she pulled me down tonight
Let her go, let her go,
Let her go, let her go

Faith

To be REALLY honest, I'm no religious person. Not that I don't believe in God, but I rarely practice the observances a Christian should do, like church going on Sundays, well verse about the Bible and so on.

But what I want to discuss here is not this type of belief, rather the belief in people in general: faith. Do YOU trust the people you know and love? Why?

You know, people are meant to be living in communities. We just don't thrive on our own, we just don't. We need to rely on other people to make a functional life. So we put trust in people so that they can fulfill our needs, whether it is physical, emotional or psychological.

Somehow we can put a lot of trust in people, especially those who are out there to harm us. We can't trust people who betray, lie, cheat and hurt our feelings.

So it's kinda tricky: how much faith we have in people?
Try this, you need a friend/lover/family member/someone who you really trust:
1. Stand in front of him/her
2. Close your eyes, arms spread out
3. Fall back towards him/her
4. See if he/she catches you

The results can be an eye-opening.

Just because the grass is greener

Just because the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.......

People don't feel that they are that great anymore.
They are not happy
They want more
They become greedy
They got it to keep them happy.

Just because someone is better than you......

You are jealous
You wish you are in his place
You either try to achieve it yourself
Or ruin his life to make yourself feel better.

Just because they have what you don't......

You dream of having it
You try to get it
by hook or by crook

Just because he is loved and you don't......

You become envious
You just want to be loved as well

Just because you don't have what you wish......

Just be happy for what you already have!

Changes

I recently had an insane discussion with someone about this.

Change: An inevitable process someone will face in life.

Change is for the better then it's great. It throws you out of your comfort zone, forces you to tryout something new. Soon you'll face difficult challenges, experienced things you have never imagined.

Is it for the good? Yea. It improves what we had right now. It makes us see differently, encountering our problems much more efficiently. There are also many things can be changed for the better. It might solve the hassle and problems we face currently, and people benefit from the changes made.

Is it bad? It's true too. People are so used to things they like. People just prefer familiarity, or some would say "the better the devil you know". People worried that change might turn out bad, causing more problem than solving them. Maybe sticking to the trusted, tried and true ways on how our life works is not that bad after all.

So do we resist change forever? We can't. Because then our life would be boring, lack of variety, mundane and sooner or later we'll get sick of it. So it's nice to change once in a while.

So when do you change? That leaves you to decide.

Generations

There is a new addition to the family: A new puppy! It's a 2-month old German Shepard, and my we decided to call him Rocky. (Though I strongly against it, since the name is too generic for a male German Shepard)
Cute, eh? Credit my sister for this picture.

Having him in the family really changed things around the house. More noise, chaos, barking and all. Since a lot of attention is diverted to the new needy pup, our current dog is starting to feel envious. Heh, Brownie, you are 10 years old now, and you don't really care if we called you unless we feed you. Now you want our attention back just as the good old days when you're a puppy yourself?

We will know someday Brownie may leave us and Rocky will become the apprentice for the guarding our home. Or maybe Brownie may decide to relax and let Rocky to do the job (You lazy bum!). It's kind of a generational shift. Guess life as dogs are almost like people. Eventually what you are doing right now will be taken over by someone else.

This is my sis and the old dog Brownie for my photography assignment. I still remember he refuse to cooperate when we were taking the picture.

People come and go, but life remains the same for a lot of people. We may have new technologies to help us make life easier, but life in other aspects is still the same: work, learn, make friends, fall in love, starting a family....

My parents are expecting us to bring home the bacon once after we graduate. Soon we'll be taking over dad for the earning money role. Life goes on, so live it to the fullest while doing the same old same old, people!

Sara Bareilles - Love Song

Head under water
And they tell me to breathe easy for a while
The breathing gets harder, even I know that
You made room for me but it's too soon to see
If I'm happy in your hands

I'm unusually hard to hold on to
Blank stares at blank pages
No easy way to say this
You mean well, but you make this hard on me
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see

I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's
Make or break in this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving I'm gonna need a better
Reason to write you a love song today

I learned the hard way
That they all say things you want to hear
And my heavy heart sinks deep down under you and
Your twisted words,
Your help just hurts
You are not what I thought you were
Hello to high and dry
Convinced me to please you
Made me think that I need this too
I'm trying to let you hear me as I am

I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's
Make or break in this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leaving I'm gonna need a better
Reason to write you a love song today

Promise me that you'll leave the light on
To help me see with daylight, my guide, gone
'cause I believe there's a way you can love me
Because I say
I won't write you a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see

I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's make or break in this
Is that why you wanted a love song
'cause you asked for it
'cause you need one, you see
I'm not gonna write you a love song
'cause you tell me it's make or break in this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If your heart is nowhere in it
I don't want it for a minute
Babe, I'll walk the seven seas when I believe that
There's a reason to
Write you a love song today

And oh, Have a great April Fool's Day

New Things and Experiences

Two things I have to tell you all here:

1. For the first time in 6 years, I have finally changed my phone! it's a nokia 2630 (not the most state-of-the-art i know, but the drastic change from my old phone is good enough *cough* 3315 *cough* ^_^)

For those who has similar phones that i have now, or even better than mine, you will know that most phones nowadays are featuring a lot of things other than a mere tool of communication. Camera is becoming a staple tool for phones nowadays, along with a radio, recorder, a jukebox... well if any technology can be placed in a itsy bitsy phone someone out there will do it.

Actually I don't mind not having all the fancy applications in my phone. All i need for a mobile phone that can be called out to people, send and receive SMSes. However, I don't mind owning a much more sophisticated phone :D.

2. My Mom wants to put the rarely used oven to use. So she told us to bake a cake! Cake baking is kinda fun, and messy at the same time. To top it off, it's pretty simple, more simple than I thought. Just dump all the ingredients in phrases, place it in the oven and viola, a cake! However, the cake is pretty okay... thought I can do better. Oh well, there's always next time to experiment different flavors of cakes and other pastries. Someday we might not need to buy ourselves cookies during the festive seasons.

Just when you think life is boring, out comes something unexpected to overthrow your mundane life and make it interesting.

Panic at the Disco - Nine in the Afternoon

I used to post lyrics of some of my favorite songs in my blog. Now things are different now, since I can embed YouTube of their MTV as well. Talk about advancement in technology.

Back to the street where we began
Feeling as good as lovers can, you know
Yeah we're feeling so good

Pickin’ up things we shouldn’t read
It looks like the end of history as we know
It’s just the end of the world

Back to the street where we began
Feeling as good as love, you could, you can

Into a place where thoughts can bloom
Into a room where it's nine in the afternoon
And we know that it could be
And we know that it should
And you know that you feel it too
'Cause it's nine in the afternoon

And your eyes are the size of the moon
You could 'cause you can so you do
We're feeling so good
just the way that we do
When it's nine in the afternoon

Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could 'cause you can so you do
We're feeling so good

Back to the street
Down to our feet
Losing the feeling of feeling unique
Do you know what I mean?

Back to the place
Where we used to say
Man it feels good to feel this way
Now I know what I mean

Back to the street, back to the place,
Back to the room where it all began, hey
Back to the room where it all began
'Cause it's nine in the afternoon

Your eyes are the size of the moon
You could 'cause you can so you do
We're feeling so good
Just the way that we do
When it's nine in the afternoon

Turned 21 on the 21st

Woohoo! An adult! =P Heck I still act like a child sometimes...

I had a fun time for the whole day, well some family outing sort of. The last time we had that kind of outing was quite a long time ago... (okay, it was 2 weeks).

We went to the hot springs in Hulu Tamu, which is somewhere near Genting Highlands. Water there was really HOT (well duh!), I have yet to soak my feet to the water for a long period of time unlike my dad.

Let's see, it's my first time to the Batu Caves (yea, surprising). We climbed 272 steps to the top of the cave and it is not easy feat. Wonder why we went there the first place.

My mom told me that she went there before years ago, and things are not the same as it used to. There are a lot of stalls, shops, kiosks selling snacks, souvenirs and loads of stuff there to cater the tourists there now, compared to just a flight of stairs leading to the cave and some temples. There are also monkeys who are joining in the visiting crowd too. =)

To cap it off, there is a simple but nice birthday cake, streams of facebook scrawlings on my wall and receiving SMSes from my friends.

Elections

Our General Elections are finally over and there is a rave discussion over the results so far....

Five State Assemblies have been taken over by the Opposition, something unprecedented in the past 50 years, namely Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and the usual Kelantan.

Shocking, isn't it?

Maybe it is high time BN has to change their policies that cater to the general public.

Personality Tests

Tried one of the weird-sounding personality tests? No? Then you should take one.

Why? It kinda tells a little bit about you. Say for instance "Are you a workaholic?" determines whether you a tense working freak, or a total slacker.

Plus, it's fun too! =)

Sometimes the results turned out to be downright funny, because it turned out NOT even close to what you are. It's a pretty good laugh sometimes.

If you are interested to take these personality tests, try this website: Tickle.com. There is a whole archive of tests for you to enjoy, from the serious personality analysis to the zany, fun ones.

Note in these kinds of tests there are no correct answers, just honest ones. =)

Reality TV

Or a new versions of game shows. if you want call it. The key differences are: it is set anywhere but a studio, interviews or confessionals by the contestants, painful eliminations and bigger rewards on the line.

I admit, I am a BIG fan of reality TV series. Since the debut of the first reality show (Survivor) back in 2000. (Wow, 8 years already?) I've been watching various types of it. Name one and I can tell you I have watched at least 1 episode of it.

Survivor Beauty and the Geek The Amazing Race Hell's Kitchen The Apprentice Fear Factor American Idol So You Think You Can Dance? America's Next Top Model

Even though the quality of the shows slipped over the years, I still watch it irregardless. Of course some reality TV is just plain retarded. Like I heard of the shows actually designed to meant to find a appropriate donor for organ transplant! My god, why do people take other people's misery as a form of entertainment! >:(

Now that most shows are back for their new seasons, it's time to watch a new cast of people participating the good old shows, root for your favorites and hang on tight during eliminations.

Happens Once Every Four Years

Look at the date today. Yeap, it's February the 29th! (or ventinueve de Febrero in Spanish)

As all of you know, 2008 is a leap year. Every year divisible by 4 is a leap year, so every 4 years there is a February 29th, Right? Not exactly, because years that can also divisible by 100 is NOT a leap year, like 1700, 1800, 1900 except it is also divisible by 400. So years like 1600, 2000, 2400 is a leap year.

I could not imagine some people actually have to wait for 4 years to celebrate their actual birthday. >_<

Life of Warfare

People always hope to find world peace sooner or later. I am a believer of this seemingly unachievable resolution too. But somehow, there is always conflict, quarrels, fights and confrontations happening out of the blue in life. Of course, we are either the offensive who seeks something they want, the defendant who never backs down without a fight, the mediator to keep the peace (and desperately trying to end the fight) or someone who happens to witness the whole thing unfolds.

These unpleasantness just happens. Just because everyone has a lot of ideas and opinions to disagree on, something everyone wants but there is not enough for everyone, or even something they felt they are unhappy over things.

So why we don't just all agree on everything?

We just can't. After all we are individuals with different personalities, backgrounds and their opinions shaped based on anything they have seen, heard and felt. As no one had the same experiences, so their point of view will never be the same. If everyone walks, acts and talks the same, then the world is definitely boring. Guess diversity comes with its disadvantages, huh? =)

So in the end of the day, after we pursue the art of arguing, we should start picking up what's next -- the art of compromising.

TV's Back!!!!

Okay, i know i'm a bit too late for this. The Writer's Guild strike has concluded on February 12, 2008. Which means the writers are back at their studios writing scripts for our shows we love so much.

These are some of the shows resuming in a few weeks or April. I only list some of the popular shows, if you see your favorite is not here, no worries! They are back too. The ones in green are the ones I watch religiously, light blues are occasional fan of the show.
Heroes One tree Hill Brothers & Sisters 24 Eureka Ugly Betty Pushing Daisies House Friday Night Lights Scurbs Family Guy Lost How I Met Your Mother Aliens in America Smallville Prison Break The Office Desperate Housewives Grey's Anatomy Supernatural The Simpsons

This means i have a lot of entertainment (read: distraction) in store!

Valentine's for Singletons

Valentine's day it's like any other day for me.... Obviously just because I don't have a significant other to celebrate with... haha.

It's not like I don't really try to find one, it's just that I don't feel I'm ready for a relationship. Relationship commitment is something I don't really think of right now, especially when a lot of things happening in my life. But then again, if there's someone I really like, and some chemistry happening, who knows?

Okay, maybe I'm not making an effort to find true love. =P

Whether you are in a wonderful relationship with someone or living a life as a single:

Happy Valentine's Day!

geez, this is my first time using pink to write on my blog. :)

Year of the.....

How's your Chinese New Year to you?

Well, mine is the usual hike to Genting Highlands (as one of my aunts has a vacation home at one of the resorts. And yes, it's a yearly thing. So don't be jealous coz i'm getting a little too tired of that place already) Ang pow claiming (there was a slight hike though :P), yee sang tossing, the usual reunion dinner, and the conversations somehow centered on gambling and 4D numbers.

Sounds like a typical Chinese family to you, eh?

Yes. it's becoming a trend in most people that most people would try their luck on the betting table. I too fall under the "most people" category. Tried blackjack to score some extra money, and heck the results varies greatly, VERY greatly. At one point I was winning, then somehow I lost whatever I won. Oh well, that's life, you win some and you lose some. Most of all it revolves around taking risks.

Once again Happy New Year to all!

*Lights up fire crackers*

The Sims 2 Music Videos

These are the music video made by EA games over the years.

Don't worry about what they were singing. They are merely the gibberish version of the actual songs.
