Working on ideas... in a holiday noless

Ever since I have been studying for a degree, my mind wanders on what I would be in the future. I doubt it would be an animator or a 3D designer... because there are people out there outclass me in any way possible. What I was sure about was to do something about the media, be it PR or advertising, broadcast or print.

So after my internship is over and I returned to campus and everything has settled for the holidays, I have my goals set for the first time in 3 years: writing.

Writing for TV/movies specifically.

For those are wondering why, here's why: I had always had a knack of writing stories and creating stories, since high school. Every essay choices during exams I picked is ALWAYS narrative, because it is not very restricting, the words flow much easier compared to writing a factual/descriptive/reflective. Most of all, you NEVER need to worry about being under the word count (Though you need to watch out the time restrictions, because you know, it is a test after all). Which is WHY I ventured Film & Animation, because that's the only majoring that is anything remotely related to storytelling.

So there are two ideas I am tinkering right now:
-FYP idea. Our theme is about "Rhythm", so I need some associations about this particular word. No cliched music-driven animation (Though it would be after all that), so it is about music, rhythmic patterns in life.

Possibly would be done in Motion Graphics and some green screening (Not going to call it a VFX because it isn't).

-Writing my first TV script. I meant it to be pitched somewhere (I doubt it would be here. Possibly in the US). This is fo sho, y'all! I drafted the story outline in a short story form to check out any flaws and fix it before it would be turned into a script.

I sent the story out to some of my friends and got pretty mixed reviews... Not bad for a first timer but I still need some fine tuning to make it appealing.

That's all for now. Signing off.

Can You Hear the Birds Sing?

I just set up a profile in Twitter and... I have no idea WHAT to do with it.

I pretty slow in picking up the latest web fads. I used to be such, and I still am. I only started blogging at 2005 when everyone already typed tons of posts in their blogs, adding friendster, myspace and facebook only after multiple attempts of my friends persuasions and prodding and now this.

It looks kinda of convenient for me, like just type in whatever you want to say in short little blurbs. I kinda looks like the status update in facebook, only shorter.

If anyone whats to follow me, please do so by clicking the link at the side column.

Tweet away, folks!

Earth Hour

Well I really did my part. Though my mom doesn't really see the point of doing it anyway.

I'm no stranger to just merely turn off the lights, cause in my area power failures are becoming a norm already. So I'm pretty cool with that.

Being this part of the activism forces me to think a little about my forgetful self. I tend to leave some electric appliances left on for hours. Lights, fan, computer etc. Guess I have to knock my big head to ALWAYS remember to turn it off after use.

Of course this energy conserving thing is not suppose to be a one off, cause not applying it in your everyday life just makes it redundant. Cheers

Chinese New Year 2009: Year of the Earth Ox

Well, this year my family decided to go somewhere else: Ipoh. It's a place one of my cousins live in, and we're pretty excited to celebrate this new year with somewhere different.

First off: Ipoh does have it's charm of its mountainous geographical area. (Seriously, it really feels really good with the hills reaching the clouds and my parents are literally excited about the sallow caves they spotted). We went to a cave temple there, and it was a Buddhist version of Batu Caves. And yes, It was crowded even for the new year's day where people supposed to be at home celebrating. Yea, my family included.

I can't believe I'm so damn freaking tired when I'm driving back, I'm overcoming it with loud music and humming them. Too bad, i had to pull up at the nearest R&R stop to ask my sister to continue the rest of the journey. So, Ipoh is farther than I thought it would be.

All in all, it was a great experience.
